About Characters.
.] Pick a color. This is probably the most simple no-brainer thing for you to do. Before you even bother asking about current plot, please have a color or two chose to ask about. It is completely pointless to go into a COLOR roleplay with no absolute clue of which color to choose. That is not up to us, pick a shade that fits the character you wish to play, not the color you personally favor. (Though liking a color and roleplaying a color comes in handy at some point, I'm sure.)
.] Once you have your color, you should take the time to decide on gender and species. We roleplay our group with them referencing their race as a color, which gives people with multiple species ideas more room for squirming. Your species does not have to follow the species-specific guidelines most RPs want you to focus on. If your vampire wants to suck bone marrow instead of blood, feel free. Maybe your werewolf is tiny and pathetic when they change. It's completely up to you. The creation world is never ending with this group. The only thing we 100% do NOT allow, is Godlike characters. Sure, your character may THINK they are God, but the only holy beings on the avenue will always just simply be angels.
.] Got your deets? Awesome, let's move on. Here's the part where your color gets a face. That's right, you choose their lovely-lovely-loooovely face and show the world. This can be a picture you've drawn, the avatar maker on the site, a dressup model from some website, or just a shitty photoshop you fell in love with on Photobucket. We're not too picky. Give us a visual, and we'll get the rest of it. If you're having trouble finding the right image, using dress-up games isn't a bad option. (I've seen some pretty well done characters on dress up game engines.) If you're having trouble locating a good image website or a customs site, I will gladly compile a list at the bottom of these guidelines.
.] Now you're a person, time to add some persona to that empty black heart. Or maybe remove the color from a pink and lush heart? That's your call. Giving a color a personality should tie in with what the color means. Reds should be more extreme if they're close to Primary Red, and yellows should be more mighty as they are higher to the Primary Yellow. (Red being a fierce color and yellow being a strong color.) Playing a Secondary or Monochrome however is somewhat different. Secondaries are either warm, cool, or cold colors (orange, green, purple). Shades that come from these colors are often times referred to as extreme shades. With lots of varying personalities. As for Monochromes, the darker the color the more mysterious. White may be an openly uncaring color, close to the light making them completely calm about everything. However Black may be a mysterious shade that hides secrets in their skin and lies to hide devious past incidents. That's also in the spectral guide board.
.] Now that we've added life to your doll, it's time to decide their fate in this cruel world. Are you a warrior, a survivalist, a rebel, or a mutant? Maybe you're just a chaotic neutral in all these affairs. But you've got to play a part in this apocalypse. You also should decide by now if you live in the Inn or in a shack (possibly even in the ruins of your once beautiful home.)Having a home can completely alter your color's story. As the housing is very limited so many are forced to sleep in ruins and at the inn. Some even find themselves sleeping outside the inn in crude tents. (The campgrounds can also be a home for some poor colors.) Remember, warrior type colors may want to live with other warrior types, feel free to make your own little clans.
.] By now, your character should be pretty clear to 'who' they are. So it's time to decide who they were before everything went to the dogs. Were they rich and famous? Or just a nobody that's been lingering behind everyone else this entire time. And where were they the day after the light went out? How did the apocalypse change their view on life... no the future! How did it make them look at people after that? This is the part where you get to write your life story. Well, their life story. It can be as brief and choppy as you'd like. But the more information you can give us, the better it will be for all of us. For everything to function, we're going to need to know *something* about your color that isn't classified as just personality or quirks. We want to know those juicy details!
.] After you've got that, you're free to do what you please with that character, it's your's to keep. That means you can bend and break them til' they're worthless and dying! That's the best part of the operation, seeing how much you can Frankenstein into a poor creature. Also, don't forget that you're going to need a totally awesome weapon before you can leave your house. But we'll cover that next!
.] Your weapon is what shall lead you through the storm! Erg, well, it'll probably come in handy now that we're dealing with a world where everything wants to kill everything else. Weapons are simple, they can be anything. (ANYTHING.) From the typical, "I want a rifle!" all the way to, "I am going to bash people's skulls with a taxidermy possum!" It's your call. We don't care what you choose. If you feel like it can kill a typical zombie, then it works for us. Weapons, however... will have no special powers that the character themselves cannot perform without the weapon. (Meaning your sword doesn't catch on fire if your character can't either.) However, if you can successfully attach a source to CREATE the fire, it's completely allowed. Think about some of the weapons in Fallout. That's what we're talking about. Now think about Dead Rising's weapon system. That also applies. Get creative. There's a million possibilities in this type of world.
.] Sure, you've got a gun and a name. But do you have a totally wicked colors-only-ability? Of course you do, let's find out what it is. Every color has something, so deciding on that ONE little thing they're amazing at is something simple. Maybe they can turn invisible? Maybe they can breathe under water. These are simple abilities that usually won't help in combat, but may come in handy for mischief. (Of course, we're talking about boring skills here.) Complete understanding of the universe is out of question, but the ability to speak to plants or butterflies however is not! (Also, species can affect your abilities, keep it in mind!) Maybe your body is flame resistant? Who knows! This is your time to shine (or glow if you want)! Everything here is for your to change and customize. It's your character, you should get the opportunity to do whatever you see fit.
.] Unlike most generic personification groups, we take pride in making things as completely weird and original as possible. We don't stress on what the previous plot is, because the plot we make as a group means just as much as the things that made our characters who they are. It gives us the chance to bring everything we've ever wanted into one being and make them easily playable. It gives the character more life, it simply rips from it's cocoon and speaks for itself. Your character should be something that fits you in a way that you never feel any sort of annoyance to them. It should be like a second skin. If you can hear their angry little voice when you think about killing them off, then you are 100% in the zone (imo). So please, feel free to ask anything you might need to know about what to NOT do with your character. Because we don't know either! Let's figure that out as we go!
